This race is like a favorite pair of old shoes. You know it, it's comfortable, it fits. Fantastic to see my bud Rich Lewis back racing-his first race in three years. Nice to meet Mitch, a teammate I didn't know I had. Mitch, Mitch, and Rich raced Granville on a gloomy but warm spring day. Rich and the other Mitch stayed at the front of our small fifteen-ish sized pack consisting of 3s and Masters. The whole time I figured it was Pete Czerwinski's race, given his collosal power output and ability to attack. Rich and (the other) Mitch kept the pace high enough and Peter occasionally attacked but he wasn't feeling quite as aggressive as usual and things stayed together til the end. A short (27 mile!!) race with nothing much to report except that it was good to see Rich and good to have teammates even though I can't say I was much of a good teammate today. 8 races done by 4/24 (didn't report in on time for Mt. Vernon and the Tym Tyler Hueston Woods). Should race tomorrow. Then the next weekend I am off to sojourn in the Smokeys and hopefully catch some trout with my old college roommate. I might have to take my single speed just to keep the legs loose.
